‘The Love Hypothesis’ Sequel Movie Status Revealed
Olive and Adam's story isn't over!

Rom-com fans got a long-awaited update: Ali Hazelwood is writing a sequel to The Love Hypothesis, titled The Two-Body Problem — and Hollywood is already circling a screen follow-up.
Hazelwood announced the book after the Prime Video adaptation put Olive and Adam back in the cultural conversation, noting she never expected to return to their story so soon — and now can’t imagine the world without it.
Here’s everything Drama Tales knows so far about a potential Two-Body Problem movie.
Will there be a Love Hypothesis sequel movie?
It’s looking promising. Hazelwood said nothing is locked, but MRC is developing a film based on The Two-Body Problem for Amazon MGM Studios — the same studio home as the first movie.
When could The Two-Body Problem hit screens?
The novel is due in February 2027. Unless a script moves in parallel, a theatrical or streaming release is more likely in 2028 or later.
What is The Two-Body Problem about?
Early details point to Olive and Adam living together and still deeply in love — while the pressure of temporary academic jobs and long-distance career choices starts to strain their happily-ever-after.
Hazelwood has framed the book as optional for readers who prefer Olive and Adam frozen at the end of the first novel, while promising the sequel explores what comes after the first rush of romance.
Who could star in the sequel?
No cast has been announced while the project is in development. Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman would be the natural choices to return as Olive and Adam if the studio greenlights a sequel.
Where director Claire Scanlon stands
Whether supporting characters return depends on how much of Olive’s post-grad life the sequel keeps intact. Director Claire Scanlon has already said she’d be open to returning if Hazelwood’s next chapter heads to cameras.
